Pentecost: May 14, 2008

A drummed and chanted telling of the Acts Pentecost story

May 18, 2008

Here is a chant in which the prophecy spoken of by Joel is spoken as if it
were a recurring dream, a message trying to get through, a song sung by the
Holy One.

Another chant is provided here by our friend, Barb Nish, from the
Psalm-Body's Prayin' Subscription Group. The tune is simple, driven by the
syncopated piano accompaniment.

As a response to the question “What If” that Ralph asks about the ideals of the Christian community, here is an expansion on Jesus' Prayer (the Lord's Prayer). It is a shared reading between one or more leaders and congregation.

It begins like this...

Our Father
Our Mother, Holy One, Blessed Spirit of Life,
(and onward...)

I were leading it, I might read Ralph's story of the Stoning of Stephen
and follow up with a confessional psalm (Psalm 30 seems cut out for this
day), punctuating with this refrain:

Spiralling down, spiralling down
Spiralling, spiralling down.

In reflecting on Jim's words for this Sunday, I thought I would provide you
with the MP3 of the song."Patience", f As Jim says, conversions happen in many different
ways, some of them great bolts of realisation in the middle of the street
and some of them only gently realised after years of "living into the
question". I praise God for the possibilities of both.

Our new album is called "Momentary Saints" and it is available now. Visit
