Stoning our own prophets... Silencing the voices of change... Holding the
cloaks for ill-doers... The resistance to words we do not want to hear can
turn from a personal gut reaction to a mob riot in terrifying swiftness.

If you choose to look at this very hard story, you might find that this
refrain will help somewhere.

If I were leading it, I might read Ralph's story of the Stoning of Stephen
and follow up with a confessional psalm (Psalm 30 seems cut out for this
day), punctuating with this refrain:

Spiralling down, spiralling down
