Between Easter and Pentecost, the followers of Jesus huddled behind locked doors to talk about the good old days while Jesus was still with them, or they retreated to the familiarity of fishing at the lake. But at Pentecost, something happened.

It’s almost too easy to make fun of dear old Peter. Matthew asserts that Jesus chose Peter as “the rock on which I will build my church” (Matthew 16:18)) but it’s sometimes hard to understand why Jesus would choose a man who so often got things wrong.
